Fillers Q & A

What are fillers?

Fillers are injectable treatments for volume loss that smooth wrinkles, plump the skin, and enhance facial contours. They contain gel-like substances that fill in hollow areas to provide a more youthful appearance.

Many types of fillers take only a few minutes to inject and deliver instant results, making them a popular choice for busy individuals who want to rejuvenate their appearance quickly and safely.

I’m considering fillers. What are the different types?

Rejive Medical Aesthetics offers many types of fillers, including:

Juvéderm

Juvéderm is a hyaluronic acid filler with a smooth consistency for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. One of the most popular fillers available, Juvéderm consistently delivers soft, natural-looking results.

Restylane

Restylane is also a popular and effective hyaluronic acid filler. It has a firmer, more granular formulation than Juvéderm, making it ideal for hollow areas that need structural support.

Sculptra

Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA-SCA) that works differently than Juvéderm and Restylane. While hyaluronic acid fillers produce instant results by filling in depressions, Sculptra works gradually by stimulating collagen and elastin production. These natural proteins help your skin appear tight, firm, and youthful.

Sculptra results take a few weeks to appear but last longer than hyaluronic acid fillers.

Kybella®

Kybella, the brand name for deoxycholic acid, is an injectable solution that destroys fat cells beneath the chin.

How do lip fillers work?

There are specific dermal filler formulations designed to plump lips. Practitioners can create enhanced lip volume using these fillers and can also refine the shape and definition of your lip line.

Practitioners assess your facial features and the curve of your smile before administering lip fillers. It’s essential to inject the precise volume of filler necessary to achieve optimal natural-looking results.

How should I prepare for fillers?

Fillers require very little preparation, but taking the following precautionary measures can help minimize complications, such as bruising, bleeding, and swelling:

  • Limit alcohol consumption
  • Take oral Arnica montana
  • Stop taking anti-inflammatory pain relievers (ibuprofen, aspirin, etc.)
  • Avoid certain cosmetic treatments 1-2 weeks before
  • Stop taking St. John’s wort, garlic pills, and other supplements
  • Reduce consumption of salty foods to minimize swelling

Tell your provider about any medications you’re taking or underlying medical conditions you have before visiting for fillers.

How long do results from fillers last?

The length of your results depends on the type of filler you choose, your metabolism, and other factors. While Juvéderm and Restylane typically last 6-12 months, Sculptra improvements can continue for up to two years after your initial injection. Kybella results last several years, even a lifetime, as the treatment permanently removes fat cells.

Fillers offer a safe, effective way to rejuvenate your appearance. To learn more, Call Rejive Medical Aesthetics or schedule an appointment online.
